![]() Coyote Hunting: Tips To Help You Become A Top Notch Coyote HunterIn terms of equipment for coyote hunting, the kind of gun you use certainly does make a difference in coyote hunting, and the gun you carry can make or break your trip. Obviously, as you might expect, there are varying opinions on which guns are the best, and different hunters swear by different brands. Therefore, while this article certainly isn’t an authority on which one definitely is best, here are some suggestions to help your coyote hunting have as good a chance of success as possible. First off, you need to determine whether to use a shotgun or rifle. If you plan on hunting from short range, such as in a dense forest, a shotgun should suffice. I would consider short range anywhere from forty yards or under, and should this be the case, a shotgun will probably be your most accurate weapon. Should you plan on hunting from farther out, a rifle is your best option, although again, which you opt for is largely a matter of personal preference. So long as the rifle can fire the distance required, and you have steady aim, it should be enough to perform the task necessary, so I wouldn’t get too caught up in the debate about which is best. Here are some more quick tips to help you maximize your chances of success when going coyote hunting. First of all, make sure to not carry any distinctive smells with you, because as I’ve mentioned in other articles, and I’m sure you’re aware of, coyotes can smell very well, and if they get a whiff of you, your chances of success are shot. As I’ve alluded to in other articles, having a coyote calling machine is often a very effective tool when you use it properly. If you get one, however, be sure to not use it too loud, or too quietly for that matter-somewhere in between is your best bet Some hunters would rather call themselves, and if you feel your call resembles that of a coyote, then by all means, go for it. The bottom line is, coyote hunting is one of the fastest growing forms of hunting out there, and if you haven’t done it yet, I would highly recommend you start.
